Registration Policies and Procedures

These Terms and Conditions govern all transactions with the Owen Sound Skating Club, doing business as Owen Sound Skating Club in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.  In addition to these general terms and conditions, you will be required to accept the policies as required by each particular program during your registration process.

All programs will take place at the location indicated in the program registration.  Program details can be found on the club website at skateowensound.com under the tab Programs

Refund & Cancellation

Refunds and credits will be determined at the discretion of the Club. All requests for refunds must be in writing, addressed to the Board of Directors. The Club’s general policy is that refunds and credits are NOT permitted after the 3rd week of a program except for medical reasons accompanied by a Medical Certificate.

All Skate Canada fees & fundraising fees are final and are NOT subject to refund or credit.

No refunds or credits are provided for missed sessions. Make-up ice for hours missed on a skater’s scheduled day will NOT be granted.

The Club is NOT obligated to refund registration fees for unforeseen ice closures due to special events/circumstances, or equipment/mechanical breakdown beyond our control.
 
Withdrawal due to non-medical or non-injury reasons BEFORE the 3rd week of a program:
Skaters who wish to withdraw from skating for any non-injury related reason may receive a pro-rated refund (less the Skate Canada and Fundraising fee) provided they withdraw before 3rd week of the program. These cases will be charged a $50 administrative fee. No refunds will generally be provided for non-injury related reasons after the 3rd week of the program.
 
Withdrawal from a PowerSkating program due to hockey scheduling conflict:
Skaters who wish to withdraw from a powerskating program because they have been rostered to a hockey team who's team regular scheduled practice conflicts with their powerskating session time may receive a refund (less the Skate Canada fee) provided they withdraw prior to the start of the session. These cases will be charged a $25 administrative fee. No refunds will generally be provided for scheduling conflict reasons after the program session has started.
 
Withdrawal from all Owen Sound Skating Club session due to injury/medical reasons:
Skaters who are unable to skate due to an injury or medical reason may be given a credit (less the Skate Canada and Fundraising Fees) towards a future season. The Club may request an official Doctor’s Certificate from the skater requesting the credit. The credit may be pro-rated depending on how much of the season the skater has completed.  No administrative fee will be charged.
 
NOTE:
If a refund is granted, the refunded amount will be credited back to the credit card that was used to register the skater.
If a credit is granted, the skater will receive official notice via email from the Club. It is the skater’s responsibility to provide proof that they have been given a credit from the Club when they register for a future season. For example, the skater should bring a copy of the email from the Club confirming the credit was granted with them to registration.  Credit will not be provided without such proof.

Privacy

The Owen Sound Skating Club (OSSC) is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. All information collected is confidential and will be used solely for administration purposes. Information collected will also be used to register skaters with our National Governing Body Skate Canada.

OSSC does not share member information with any other organization, user group, or third party other than Skate Canada.

Terms and Conditions

The Owen Sound Skating Club generally accepts payment by credit card through our on-line system. However, at its discretion, the Club may require payment in full in cash.

​All prices and purchase invoices are in Canadian dollars ($CDN). All club programs and services offered by the Owen Sound Skating Club are delivered in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada.

​All items for purchase on the Owen Sound Skating Club (OSSC) website are for OSSC program registrations and related fees only. No products will be shipped or otherwise delivered. No goods will be exported.

Once registered, any changes to a skater’s category (ex. moving up from CanSkate to StarSkate) must be approved by the appropriate Program Director and is subject to a prorata fee increase.

Media Consent

On occasion, the Owen Sound Skating Club may take photographs or videos of the different learn-to-skate sessions. If you DO NOT want your child's picture displayed or your child recorded for advertising or display purposes, please let the office know at the start of your session.
