Shooting Stars
CanSkate Enrichment

Shooting Stars is an extension of our CanSkate program for skaters wishing to pursue figure skating.  The program runs in conjunction with the CanSkate program utilizing a dedicated portion of the ice surface.  Shooting Stars is a transitional step towards to our StarSkate programming. Skaters must have completed Level 3 of the CanSkate program.

Lesson Format

The Shooting Stars program is run under the direction of Val Weber, Shooting Stars Director.  A member of our coaching team will be instructing the Shooting Stars skaters throughout the 50 minutes session in a group lesson format.  Skaters will be working on edges, turns, stroking, jumps, spins and field movements.

During Group Lesson skaters will continue to work on the fundamental skating skills that will prepare them to enter the StarSkate programs, and will continue to earn their badges. The difference between CanSkate and Shooting Stars is the concentrated time that is spent with a Professional Coach. 100% of the Shooting Stars ice time is spent with a professional coach providing excellent exposure to the experience and talent that a professional coach has to offer.  This group lesson format helps reduce the cost of coaching by sharing it amongst the participants.

As the season progresses, skaters may be able to schedule private lessons with the coach of their choosing and/or be invited to "skate up" to the StarSkate program (additional cost to parents)
